Growing, Serving, Joining… Together!

God gives each of us a unique life experience so that we can play a unique role in the Body of Christ – the Church. As God works through each of us to build up the Body, the result is a genuine community of individuals and families that has a heart for relationships that last. It is happening among us in a number of ways, including…

  • Christ-centered worship, at the heart of which is a faithful presentation of God’s inspired and inerrant Word, consistent with the sound doctrines of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod;
  • A strong commitment to the ongoing study of God’s Word through a variety of small and large group Bible studies;
  • Men of character and integrity, seeking the Lord’s direction through Bible study, service, and fellowship;
  • Young families seeking guidance and encouragment with Godly parenting and raising children in the Christian faith;
  • An annual retreat for married couples to strengthen and sustain their commitment to one another under the shadow of the cross of Christ;
  • A congregation-wide dedication to share in God’s work in the mission fields of Africa through an annual auction to raise tens of thousands of dollars, providing ongoing support for missionaries, seminaries, and the planting of churches, as well as to finance the purchases of mosquito netting and the digging of wells;
  • A partnership with urban Ministries within Milwaukee, such as Bethany Lutheran Church, Mission of Christ, and support for A Place of Refuge.

Other examples of ministry opportunities at Trinity include mid-week Bible studies and small groups, Sunday morning’s intergenerational Sunday School (known as T3), the hosting of MobilePacks for Feed My Starving Children, food drives, Christmas caroling for the homebound, community roadway cleanup and more!

To get involved, contact the church office at 262-242-2045.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDIES

Tuesday Mornings – 7:30 a.m. Led by Fred Mollwitz in the Gathering Room

STUFF THEY DIDN’T TEACH ME IN SUNDAY SCHOOL

Ever wondered if there was just a bit more to some of those lessons you learned in Sunday school? We do too!  Fred leads this fun study that examines those less than well-known stories from the Scriptures, with real life application that will help you examine your walk with the Lord.

Saturday Mornings – 7:00 a.m. Led by Rick Adams in the Gathering Room

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

Trinity’s Saturday morning men’s Bible study group will begin this new study starting on Saturday, June 1st.  We’re excited to begin a study of one of the four gospels, and John’s gospel is unique in that it was the last of the four to be written.  As a result, it offers otherwise unrecorded details of Jesus’ teachings, miracles and life.  Of the four gospels, John’s is the one often called “the spiritual gospel.”

John offers a simple and clear statement of salvation.  Virtually every Christian can recite from memory the so-called “gospel in a nutshell”:  “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (3:16).  At the same time, those who search this gospel find themselves face-to-face with God himself, peering into the depths of his incomprehensible being.

We’d love to have you join us – whether you’re a seasoned veteran of Bible study groups or if it’s brand new to you.  There’s a seat for you at our table!

TREE OF LIFE RETREAT IN THE KETTLE MORRAINE AREA OF GREENBUSH, WI

Trinity’s Men’s Retreat is all about spending a weekend away with choices to golf, shoot trap, hunt pheasants, fish, hike, bike, or do absolutely nothing at all!  All of it is set in the beauty of the Kettle Moraine Forest near Plymouth.
Throughout the weekend, we will meet around God’s Word to hear from Him on how we can become the disciples He has called us to be.

What is Jesus Up To?

Maybe you’ve noticed that the America we’re living in isn’t our grandparents’ America.  It’s not our parents’ America, either, and in many ways, it’s not even the America of our youth.

As Bob Dylan once said, the times they are a-changin’. Popular culture is rejecting the established Christian church.  The Bible is dismissed as a book of tales and myths.  And while non-believers used to have at least the appearance of respect for people of faith, we’ve seen several examples that this has now been replaced with disdain and even persecution.

Now, there are a number of ways in which we can respond to all of this.

  • Many may choose to hunker down and live with a seize mentality. We can wall ourselves off to the rest of the world and wait for Jesus to return;
  • We can double down on what we’ve always done as a church, developing evangelism plans, holding Bible studies, and implementing elaborate marketing strategies, hoping that more people will choose to become members of our church;
  • Or we can take another look at exactly what Jesus has told us regarding what being a disciple of his actually looks like and behaves like, then act accordingly.

This last response is the one we will be exploring in this retreat.  We will be examining parts of the book Joining Jesus on His Mission by LCMS pastor Greg Finke.  The cost of the book is covered in your registration fee.

Jesus Isn’t Worried!

Pick a crisis, any crisis:

  • Fewer and fewer church members choose to make worship a weekly habit and stablished church-going families are seeing their own children and grandchildren walking away from the church;
  • Consequently, giving is down and budgets are being cut;
  • Fewer men are choosing to enter the full time pastoral ministry;
  • Minus school choice, most of the Milwaukee area Lutheran schools would close immediately.

Now realize…Jesus is not at this moment sitting at the right hand of the Father, wringing His hands in worry and anxiety.  He is the Lord of His Church and He is active right now, leading, preparing, and equipping His disciples to join Him in His mission to redeem and restore the world.

Developing a Holy Discontent

A major goal of our time together around God’s Word in this retreat is for your heart to be stirred with a “holy” discontent with the status quo.

The good news is that Jesus is already on the move—in our neighborhoods, in our workplaces, even in the coffee houses and soccer sidelines that occupy our time.  He wants us to look up from our routines and notice that the world is indeed changing and he is already on the move in response.

Parenting Kids to be Disciples of Jesus

Trinity provides a great monthly newsletter for parents called Parenting Kids to be Disciples of Jesus.

Each issue contains articles, parenting principles, pointers, and more—all focused on a relevant, monthly theme.  Scripture is woven throughout, and includes features such as:

  • Power Source—a prayer guide
  • Teachable Moment—a family activity tied to the theme and to Jesus
  • Media Madness—5 reviews of recent or upcoming media releases for kids and families
  • Current cultural trends and stats that provide insights for parents

Best of all, it’s totally free.  Issues are printed out and either sent home with the school children or placed in members’ mailboxes at Trinity.  But you can also access each issue here.

Bible Presentation Workshop

For Parents of 3rd Graders

“How can I make the Bible understandable to children of a variety of ages?”

“How can I make God’s Word a more central part of the life of my family?”

Each year, Trinity (in part through the generosity of Trinity’s Historical Society) provides a special Faith Alive Bible to all of our third grade children, whether they are students in our parochial school, or if they are in public school or home-schooled,

Parents are invited and encouraged to attend a brief “workshop” where we will:

  • Receive the Bible, along with receive special instructions for the Bible Presentations within the worship service.
  • Connect with other parents of 3rd Graders
  • Discover and share strategies for building family time around the Word of God

This Bible Presentation workshop is part of the 20-minute breakout session during the T3 (Trinity Time Together) meeting in the 3rd Grade classroom.
