Door County in Autumn

Door County in the fall offers some spectacular opportunities for site-seeing, hiking, biking, shopping, or golfing. That’s why we chose an earlier weekend this year—in hopes we will see some spectacular colors!
Then there are the wineries, the lighthouses, and the restaurants. Plus, the Scandinavian Lodge offers great amenities including an indoor pool and hot tub, a workout room, and luxurious suites. We choose Door County because it is far away enough from life back home that it will be a real “getaway.”  We’ve enjoyed a long relationship with the good folks at the Scandinavian Lodge, and we keep coming back here because of the quality of the resort, the friendliness of the staff, and the proximity to so many great Door County destinations.  And we also make it a point to give each couple lots and lots of down time to spend together.  That’s why you’ll only see three 90-minute sessions in our schedule – one on Friday evening and two on Saturday morning.  The rest of the time is yours to enjoy.

This Year’s Theme: Cherishing Your Spouse

Gary Thomas is an author on marriage whose books we’ve used before. This year we’ll be using his latest book, Cherish, as the basis for our sessions.

Thomas’s premise is that discovering how to better cherish your spouse has the power to infuse your marriage with new hope and promise. His earlier book, Sacred Marriage, challenged us to reflect on God’s purpose for our marriages.  Now he goes beyond love to explore how to create a cherishing marriage.
Whatever season of marriage you are in, the sessions we explore during this retreat will give you the practical help you need to infuse your marriage with a spiritual passion that will not only change you but will change the world around you. You can purchase a book here at Trinity (in the Gathering Room) for $16.  A Kindle download is also available online for $11.  Your experience and understanding of each session will be greatly enhanced if you come to the retreat having read the book.

There is a Friday evening wine & cheese tasting and continental breakfasts are provided on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Lunches and dinners are “on your own.” Door County’s restaurants are exceptional! While there is no registration fee for the retreat, each couple’s other expenses will be the two nights lodging at the Scandinavian ($140-$180 per night, depending on your room choice.) Room rates have been held at “off peak” rates despite the fact that we are in “peak season” for Door County hotels and resorts.  The wonderful people at the Scandinavian, who also generously donate to our African Mission Auction, are doing this as a kindness to our ministry.

Door County at the Peak of Fall Colors!

Having the retreat at this time of year will allow you to make the most of what Door County has to offer. Biking, hiking, golf, art galleries, wineries, lighthouse tours, you name it! Door County has it all. We’ve built ample time into our weekend schedule to allow each couple to spend lots of time together in the most beautiful part of Wisconsin.

The Scandinavian Lodge, Sister Bay

At the Scandinavian Lodge, all of the one and two bedroom condos are complete with a fully equipped kitchen, living room with a queen size sofa sleeper, separate bedroom with a king size bed, TV/DVD player, gas fireplace and a Jacuzzi® double whirlpool. And even though the weather won’t allow use of the outdoor pool, there’s another beautiful one inside!

Book your room with Robin at the front desk—1-888-645-6343 or email her at Chances are, when you call or email, unless you tell them you’re booking a room as a part of Trinity’s Couples’ Retreat, you’ll be told there are no rooms available. But we have a block of rooms reserved, so make sure you tell her that you are part of the retreat from trinity!
