We are off to a great start with Confirmation instruction in the 5th & 6th Grade.

We are going to be tackling the Old Testament Bible stories this year - a total of 72 of them in all!  We also will be learning more about three of the six chief parts - including the Apostles' Creed, the Ten Commandments, and Holy Baptism. 
Parents, please participate in the reading of the assigned Bible stories each week, working together with your son or daughter on the Review Questions found at the conclusion of each story.
In class, we will go through the corresponding workbook page for each story, and have our lesson on the Catechism.  We start the year with the Creed.
Get Your G.E.D. at Trinity!
The members of the school board and I were sitting down last month for a meeting, discussing ways in which we can better market our school to the community. Plans are ongoing, and we are confident that we will be able to develop new and better ways to familiarize our friends and neighbors in the community with what Trinity Lutheran School is all about. Jokingly, we started throwing out catchy slogans, and I remember Mike Trinklein saying something like – “Come to Trinity and get God every day.” 
 
“God Every Day” – hey, that’s our G.E.D. program! Okay, I apologize for this schlocky attempt at marketing. But behind this weak attempt at humor, there is an undeniable reality that sets us apart as the reason why our school families choose Trinity as the school for their children. God Every Day - at Trinity, our teachers have the freedom to share Jesus every day in religion classes, learning Bible stories, the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the doctrines of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  God Every Day – the truth of God’s Word goes way beyond a set religion curriculum from 7:45 to 8:30 each day – it permeates every subject throughout the day. God Every Day – our teachers meet each morning for devotion and prayer, because we know that, as servants in God’s kingdom, we have the awesome privilege of being the vessels carrying a precious message to the children. God Every Day -  our faith and love for Jesus carries over into our athletic program as students see their abilities as gifts from God and their effort in competition as a means of praising Him.
 
The examples go on and on. As we begin this school year, several of our grades have been displaced from their usual classrooms. We have begun in places like the music room, the narthex, and the church entry way. Where we hold class is not as important as what is spoken and communicated to our students – that Jesus died and rose for them, and that they are precious, redeemed, and loved sons and daughters of the King.

Here are some little known facts about my life:

  • I attended Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and School from 1967 to 1976;
  • I am a 1980 graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School, and a 1984 graduate of Concordia University Wisconsin;
  • Since coming to Trinity in 1984, I have taught 3rd and 5th grade, taught some subjects in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, coached 5th & 6th football, 7th & 8th girls' basketball, soccer, track & field, and 5th & 6th boys' softball; I have also been the Director of Youth & Family Ministry since 1998.  In 2007 I assumed the duties of principal on an interim basis;
  • I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction;
  • I have three children - Robin (20), Hannah (19), and Andrew (15);
  • Mrs. Adams and I will be married for 25 years this coming May 26th;
  • My favorite meal is an Egg McMuffin Value Meal;
  • My favorite hot lunch is Mrs. Szpiszar's macaroni and cheese;
  • My favorite movie is Dead Poets' Society;
  • My favorite television show is The Andy Griffith Show;
  • My favorite past time is golfing, but I'm not very good at it (although I got a hole-in-one this past summer!)
  • I live in the same house I lived in when I was a child;
  • My hero is my father, and even though he went home to heaven in January of 2000, I think of him every day;
  • I have the best job in the world - I love Trinity!
